The Games
in Detail |
Game 3 - The Prisoners
In Game 3 - 'The Prisoners' - it appeared that the San Marino
team were doomed to finish it in last place when they fell behind all the
other teams and barely finished the game within limit time. It therefore came
as a surprise when the referees declared that the San Marino team were the
only team to have completed the game correctly without breaking the rules,
thereby awarding them the maximum 6pts and the win. The other teams were all
penalised and received just 1pt each for the game.
Comments:
There were only three other occasions in the history of Jeux Sans
Frontières where a game would end with one team winning and all the
others being placed last
- in Game 2 of
JSF 1972
Heat 5 at Nice, France; in Game 2 of
JSF 1988 Heat 4 at Sevilla, Spain;
and in the Fil Rouge of
JSF 1996
Heat 9 at Torino, Italy. A similar incident, although the opposite (six
winners and one last place), had occurred during the
JSF 1970
series when the programme was staged at Lugano in Switzerland. |

Returning
Teams and Competitors |
The Spanish team Jaca that competed in this heat was the same
as the team that
competed in JSF 1990 as Jaca (1) and had
finished as winners of the
International Final. |
Additional Information |
A
sumptuously staged competition in a 40,000m² open space. All props and
equipment were made from wood and bamboo. The Italian and Yugoslav teams ended
up sharing the spoils. |
