As in 2001 and 2002, you could be forgiven for thinking that in 2003 the Spanish knew something about Jeux Sans Frontières-type programmes that everyone else had forgotten: that they could pull in a healthy and loyal audience that was up for enjoyable, lighthearted combats of fun and hilarity. Their Domestic series Grand Prix del Verano (Summer Grand Prix) was now in its ninth year, presented as usual by its popular host Ramón García and returning for a second year in its new home at Buñuel Studios in Madrid. If the Spanish could make a JSF-style show, why not any of the other usual suspects?
