Additional Information

The Baixa Cerdanya team that represented Spain in this heat was referred to as Cerdanya on screen. Cerdanya is a region of the eastern Pyrenees which is divided betwen France and Spain. The are commonly referred to as Higher Cerdanya (Alta Cerdanya, in France) and Lower Cerdanya (Baixa Cerdanya, in Spain).

A non-scoring game was played at the beginning of the programme - 'Snowmen Catching Presents' - involving snowmen catching packages that dropped from Christmas trees. This counted only towards the playing order of the Fil Rouge.

As this heat ended in a tie between the Italian team of Abetone and Baixa Cerdanya of Spain, the winner was decided upon relative placings in the Fil Rouge. As Italy had finished in 1st place (30 jumps) and Spain in 3rd place (24 jumps) in that event, the Italian team of Abetone were declared as heat winners.

Additional Information

As this heat ended in a tie between the Austrian team of Villach and Schliersee of Germany, the winner was decided upon relative placings in the Fil Rouge. As Austria had finished in a higher placing than Germany in that event, Austria were declared as heat winners.

The Spanish team from Sierra Nevada, the closest natural ski resort to the world's equator, added the number 95 to their name for this event and Heat 8. This was to note that the resort was due to host the FIS World Ski Championships in 1995. Unfortunately, disaster struck when the event was planned to take place - the resort received almost no snow, resulting in the events being postponed until 12th to 25th February 1996 when they went ahead without further problems.
