Personnel |
Not Team Personnel as
such, but why the Kingaroy Peanuts took their nutty name: Kingaroy is renowned
for its peanut production. Also known as the 'Peanut Capital', Kingaroy boasts
Australia's largest peanut processing plant in its city centre. Peanut silos
dominate the town's skyline and roadside stalls sell fresh peanuts in every
flavour imaginable. |
Additional Information |
This was a fabulous performance from the Kingaroy Peanuts team, with five game
wins from seven and a second place. They managed to amass twice the points of
their nearest rival (22pts to 20pts) and outscore the total score of their
three rival teams (22pts to 20pts)!
There was a scoreboard error after Game 6 - 'Time Bombs' - which ended with
two teams (NSW and VIC) tied for second place and scoring 1pt each. The
scoreboard operators erroneously added 2pts to the Victoria score making them
4pts instead of the correct 3pts at that stage. By the time the programme
returned from its commercial break ahead of the last game, this error had been
spotted and the scoreboard corrected.
After the results had been announced, the guest referee Mark
Warren was to be seen holding the programme's mascot, an Old English Sheepdog
called Combat. Maybe he was distracted by the weight of the animal, but Mark
called him Mascot rather than Combat! |

Returning
Teams and Competitors |
Final winners Diamond Valley Devils (Victoria) would return in later
It's A Knockout series but would be known subsequently as Eltham. |
Additional Information |
This programme comprised six games rather than the normal seven.
The winners received a cheque for $20,000 which would be donated to the
charity of their choice.
As
the series had been such a ratings winner for Channel Ten, repeats of the 1985
series of It's A Knockout started the following week in the same slot!
