The losing team of Este returned to the programme in Programme 76 (18th May

protested the result of this competition and were permitted a second chance - something that
had happened on occasion before. The result of this contest was allowed to
stand. |

Returning
Teams and Competitors |
The team from Santa Maria Capua Vetere that had previously featured in and
lost Programme 70 (6th April 1961) returned for this edition. It is unknown
whether they protested the result of the previous competition or not, but
coincidentally, they lost their second contest by the same 2-8 score. |

Additional Information |
By this time, Campanile Sera was a huge popular success as evidenced by
a newpaper report that coincided with this edition. The item drew attention to
the inhabitants of a village called Baceno, who had demanded the erection of
an improved television mast which would allow for the reception of stronger
signals from RAI Television. The townsfolk's desire to watch Campanile Sera
was noted as their strongest motivator and a new 1800m antenna for Baceno was
operational from June 1961.
The Arona team arrived at this heat having been victorious in the previous
four programmes. Their run was ended in this competition by the team from
Cesenatico, but it appears that Arona disputed the result, which was allowed
to stand. The organisers clearly saw merit in Arona's appeal as they granted
the team a return, later in the series. They took this up in Programme 100
(2nd November 1961) and registered two additional wins. |

Returning
Teams and Competitors |
The Arona team returned to the competition following their contesting
of the result of Programme 81 (22nd June 1961), when they lost 2-0 to
Cesenatico. Arona had at that point been on a four week winning run before
they were (it seems unfairly) stopped in their tracks. The Arona team
continued in victorious fashion and commenced a second winning sequence. |

Additional Information |
Due to rainy weather conditions, the public attendance in the Arona town
square for this competition was reportedly very poor. The Formia location was
unaffected by the inclement weather. |

Additional Information |
This transmission brought to a close the second run of Campanile Sera
(at 63 weeks, by far the longest unbroken run for a JSF-style programme).
Winning team Todi would have to wait until July 1962 to defend once more their
champion status, when the series returned for its final, shortened 13 week
run. |
