Ashes to Ashes was a popular follow-up series to the highly successful drama series Life on Mars, and ran for three seasons. Both starred Philip Glenister as the politically incorrect cop Gene Hunt. Whereas Life on Mars had most of its action set in 1973, Ashes to Ashes, which starred Keeley Hawes, saw her character - DI Alex Drake - thrown back in time to 1981. The final episode of the third series featured a nightmare version of It's A Knockout, complete with Knockout-style costumes representing both Gene and Alex. The broadcast was watched by six million viewers.
