Transmission (London/South East only): Monday 24th April 1978, 6.00-6.25pm
Programme Number: A:LCA1942T |

As part
of the Tonight current affairs programme, Gavin Scott reports from
Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland on a difficult recording session for the It's A Knockout event. The Democratic Unionist Party staged protests on
the streets of Carrickfergus, as they considered the event, being recorded on
a Sunday, was desecrating the sabbath day. The Reverand Ian Paisley and Mayor
Ken McFull were interviewed, both criticising It's A Knockout.
Councillor Charles Johnston however felt that the event was good for the town
and for Northern Ireland as a whole. Members of the public were also
interviewed. The report lasted 6 minutes and 5 seconds. |
